AMID THE COVID-19 GLOBAL PANDEMIC
AMID THE COVID-19 GLOBAL PANDEMIC
Earlier this year, the Nigerian-Swiss singer, Manuela Modupe Udemba, known as SHANGA contributed 1 million naira due to the global pandemic crisis striking the world to help the less privileged fight the pandemic. This action was led following her recent single titled “Certified” reaching more than 50,000 views on YouTube in less than a week.
In the “Certified” Music Video, tons of tissue papers were used as the set design. The trending music video was shot prior to the outbreak of the global pandemic and little did she know tissue paper would turn out to be an internet trend that drove traffic to her song. According to her disclaim, the use of tissue paper in the making of the music video did not cut the shortage of anyone at the time of purchase.
In order to be a corporate citizen, SHANGA gave her support in the eastern and mid part of Nigeria, as a way to give back to her second home. On the contrary, she also pledged to donate 5% of her music sales from the song Certified.
The musician, who is currently residing in Switzerland, spent her childhood in Nigeria and had her elementary school in Lagos (Avi-Ceena International School).
Her music journey has been influenced by several individuals, such as her spouse, who has played an instrumental role in her career. Under the management of UBC KLG, a company in Switzerland owned by Ndubuisi Anthony Udemba and Victor Udemba, the singer has worked with pioneers like Ben Mühlethaler, a grammy nominated audio engineer.

CERTIFIED
Certified is a unique fusion of Afro and Grime. As one of the few female multi-talents in Switzerland tapping into this Genre, Shanga is a force to be reckoned with. The song is aggressive and on point with the aim to electrify her audience.
Shanga makes it clear in her lyrics that she is moving forward and never looking back as she confronts her fears and naysayers.
The track was produced by beat chronicles – Bisi Udemba and features a live drum performance which is a key element in the song.
